Teaching mapping is a lot of fun and is something, I have found, that students don't know a lot about.
This resource has all the things needed to teach geographical mapping. It includes a reading text and a range of map sizes. One of the maps is a 21 piece map for the wall with terms that can be added to the wall display. This wall map and terms can be replicated using a smaller map that students have in their books.
After geographical mapping you could introduce thematic maps. Information and examples of students work is included in this resource.
