Olympic Games Inquiry

The Olympic Games is a world wide tradition that only comes around once every 4 years. I have found that a lot of students don't follow it but once you start talking about it they get right into it. The history of the games provides an opportunity to include some social studies into your classroom.
 
This resource looks at elements of the Paris 2024 games and then leads students to learn about one of the pervious games. If previous games (this information is provided) are spread between everyone it creates an interesting trip around the world and through history.
 
As an extra, once students have learnt about a real Olympic Games they can imagine the games are coming to New Zealand and design an Olympic Games to suit. Your students will love getting creative.
